Welcome to the Box Direct Link Generator extension (v2.0). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring a secure experience while using our extension. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data and what information we collect when you use our extension.

1. Data Collection

The Box Direct Link Generator extension does not collect, store, or share any personal user data. However, we want to be transparent about what data is processed locally:

• Box Shared URLs: The URLs you enter are processed locally within the extension to extract the shared name.
• Generated Links: The direct download links generated are stored locally in your browser's storage for history tracking purposes.
• Theme Preference: Your theme preference (light/dark) is stored locally in your browser.
• No Personal Information: We do not collect names, emails, IP addresses, or any personally identifiable information.

2. Local Storage & History Feature

Version 2.0 introduces the History Tracking feature, which stores generated links locally on your device:

• What is stored: File name, file size, extension, download link, and timestamp.
• Where it's stored: Exclusively in your browser's local storage using Chrome's storage API.
• How long: History is stored until you manually delete it or clear your browser data.
• Limit: Maximum of 100 history entries are stored to ensure optimal performance.
• Export: You can export your history as a text file, which is generated locally and not sent to any server.
• No cloud storage: We do not sync or store your history on any external servers.

3. Bulk Processing

The Bulk Link Generation feature in v2.0 processes multiple Box URLs simultaneously:

• Processing: All URLs are processed locally in sequence.
• No data retention: The bulk URLs are not stored after processing.
• Results display: Generated links are displayed in the UI and each can be copied individually.
• History saving: Each successfully generated link is automatically saved to your local history for future reference.

4. Data Usage & API Communication

When you generate a link, the extension communicates with our secure API:

• API endpoint: https://api-box-vip.vercel.app/get
• Data sent: Only the shared name extracted from the Box URL.
• No personal data: The API request does not contain any personal or identifiable information.
• No logging: Our API does not log or store any user data.
• Secure connection: All API communications are encrypted via HTTPS.

5. Permissions

The extension requires the following permissions, each with a specific purpose:

• clipboardWrite: Allows you to copy generated download links to your clipboard with one click. We do not read your clipboard.
• storage: Required to save your link history, theme preferences, and manage local data. All data remains on your device.
• No unnecessary permissions: We do not request access to your browsing history, tabs, or any other sensitive data.

6. Data Security

We take data security seriously. All data processing happens locally on your device. The only external communication is with our secure API, which only receives the shared name and does not store any data. We do not use any third-party tracking, analytics, or advertising services.

7. Your Rights & Control

You have complete control over your data:

• View History: Access all your generated links in the History tab.
• Copy Links: Copy any generated link at any time.
• Delete Individual: Remove specific history entries with confirmation.
• Clear All: Delete all history with a single action (confirmation required).
• Export Data: Download your entire history as a text file.
• Theme Preference: Toggle between light and dark themes at any time.
• Uninstall: Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data.

8. Children's Privacy

Our extension is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. For major changes, we may provide additional notice through the extension or our website.
